How to start a private chat

Use this guide to quickly enjoy the freedom using a Matrix powered chat app!

Use this guide to start a conversation with Riot. We'll use Riot on Windows as an example, the procedure for mobile phones is quite similar.

When you open the app you might see a screen similar like this:

Click the little + sign, circled in red.

Type your contacts handle into the search box. A handle is similar to an email address, something like @contact:homeserver.org

When you found your contact, all that's left is, Say hi!
